Introducing: Julien Bacqués from France
At the end of last year, 2011, there was an article here on Golf 1.is about the Cádiz Cup, which was being held at Arcos Gardens, May 5th 2011. This was an Invitational where golfwriters and travelagents were invited by Cádiz Turismo in Spain. On behalf of Iceland, travelagency Heimsferðir and Golf1.is were invited. While at Arcos Gardens Golf 1.is interviewed 7 participants, from all over Europe. Two of those interviews have already been published; one with Krizstinu Batta, twice Amateur Champion from Hungary og Mauricio Veloccia, a golfpro from Italy. Here comes the 3rd interview taken at Arcos with Julien Bacqués, who is from France, but lives in Austria.
What is your name?: Julien Bacqués.
Where were you born?: In Nantes, France, November 14th 1976.
Where did you grow up? I meandered between Nantes and Corsica while I was growing up and the love drew me to Austria in 1998.
What is your family status? I have a girlfriend and 1 son.
When did you start playing golf? I started playing golf in 2004 and have thus been playing for 8 years.
Why did you start playing golf? Because of the boyfriend of my girlfriends best friend; he took me with him to the golfcourse and I fell for it instantly; a €300 golfbag and clubs were bought that same week and from then on I have been playing golf.
What is your occupation? I work for a travelagency in Austria – TGR Golfreisen – sé um sölu- og markaðsmál þar. Við erum með ferðir um allan heim.
What is your favorite golfcourse in Austria and what is your favorite golfcourse anywhere else in the world except for the Austria ? My favorite golfcourse in Austria is Maria Lankowitz in Steiermark. It´s the perfect blend of a nice view from the golfcourse over the surrounding area, a delicious cuisine and what is most important I feel good there (so it scores high in feelgoodfactor). What is your favorite golfcourse anywhere else in the world outside of Austria? My favorite golfcourse anywhere else in the world is Kingbarns in Scotland.
What is your lowest score and on what golfcourse did you achieve it? That was a 75 in Bad Waltersdorf.

Hefir þú tekið þátt í öðrum íþróttum? Já, ég spilaði blak í Frakklandi og var m.a. meistari með skólaliði mínu þar.

Uppáhaldsmaturinn er Spaghetti Carbonara-ið hjá konunni; uppáhaldsdrykkurinn er vatn; uppáhaldstónlist er allt með U2; uppáhaldskvikmyndin er frönsk „Le Diner de Con” uppáhaldsbókin mín var bókin sem ég fékk í 18 ára afmælisgjöf og er um mig, heitir Julien Bacqués.

Hvað er í pokanum hjá þér og hver er uppáhaldskylfan þín? Í pokanum hjá mér er: R-9 TaylorMade dræver, TaylorMade tré, Titleist járn og Odyssey pútter. Uppáhaldskylfan er pútterinn minn.
Hvert er meginmarkmiðið í lífinu? Að verða hamingjusamur.
Hvað finnst þér best við golfið? Það er athvarf frá öllu stressi.
Hver er besti árangur þinn í golfinu til þessa? Þegar ég var kominn -3 undir par eftir 2 holur á móti í Lignano 2010, en niðurstaðan í mótinu varð samt allt önnur. Svo fékk ég 54 punkta á fyrsta mótinu, sem ég tók þátt í 2004.
