Tonights interview is with Alastair Kent a member of the Elite a closed 20 member group of low handicap golfers who are members of the Golf Club of Reykjav\u00edk (abbreviated: GR). The goal of the Elite is to have weekly meetings i.e. to play golf and have fun. Here goes the interview:<\/p>\n

What is your name?<\/i>: Alastair Kent<\/p>\n

What Golf Club are you a member of in Iceland?:\u00a0<\/i>The Golf Club of Reykjav\u00edk.<\/p>\n

What is your family status and does anyone in your family play golf? \u00a0\u00a0<\/i>My Dad plays golf and my twin 10 year old girls are learning.<\/p>\n

When did you start playing golf? \u00a0<\/i>I played golf from 13 years old to 18, then I took 10 years off before getting started again.<\/p>\n

Why did you start playing golf? \u00a0<\/i>My Dad played.<\/p>\n

What is your occupation? \u00a0<\/i>I am the regional sales manager for Marel in Iceland.<\/p>\n

What do you prefer parkland or links type courses?<\/i> Parkland courses – I miss them here (in Iceland).<\/p>\n

What do you prefer match play og stroke play? \u00a0<\/i>Strokeplay.<\/p>\n

What are your favorite golfcourses in Iceland? \u00a0<\/i>The Grafarholt golf course (one of GR\u00b4s 3 golfcourses).<\/p>\n

What is the most special golfcourse you have played on and why? \u00a0<\/i>The\u00a0Forest Of Arden UK, amazing back 9 with deer\u2019s roaming the fairway, and Bangalore Golf Club, \u00a0India. I had my own caddie, his handicap was 3.8<\/p>\n

What is your handicap?<\/i> 9,1.<\/p>\n

What is your lowest score and on which golfcourse did you achieve it?\u00a0<\/i>76 in \u00a0Grafarholt. I got 13 pars and 5 bogeys.<\/p>\n

What is your longest drive? \u00a0<\/i><\/i>365 yards, Forest of Arden UK, September 2011. Haukur Gislasson was my witness!<\/p>\n

What is your greatest achievement in golf to date? \u00a0 <\/i><\/i>To play the back nine in -3 under, after a +10 first nine at Saddleworth Golf Club.<\/div>\n

Have you participated in any other sports?<\/em> Running, cycling, football, cricket, athletics, rugby, badminton, squash\u2026\u2026etc.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite food, favorite drink, favorite music, favorite movie and favorite book?<\/em> My favorite food is Icelandic lamb<\/strong>; my favorite drink is Makers Mark Bourbon<\/strong>; my favorite music is anything with Oasis<\/strong>; my favorite movie is: The Godfather<\/strong> my favorite book is: Wonderland Avenue<\/strong> by Danny Sugarman.<\/p>\n

Who are your favorite golfer name 1 male and 1 female?<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0 Female.: Ragnhildur Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir\u00a0(might get some discount on lessons). \u00a0Male: Seve.<\/p>\n

What would be your dream foursome?<\/i>\u00a0 Me and ….<\/i>.\u00a0Seve, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood.<\/p>\n

What\u00b4s in the bag, what is your favorite club and why is that club your favorite one? \u00a0 In my bag are\u00a0<\/i>Mizuno MP63\u00b4s. My 6 iron, is my \u201cProzac\u201d club.<\/p>\n

Are you superstitious? <\/i>\u00a0No.<\/p>\n

What is your maingoal in golf and life? \u00a0 <\/i>In golf it\u00b4s to enjoy every round, good or bad.\u00a0\u00a0In life: \u00a0Be grateful, live with humor, stay healthy and collect \u201cmagic moments\u201d every day.<\/p>\n

What do you like the best about golf? \u00a0\u00a0<\/i>Golf is the best equalizer.<\/p>\n

How large a percentage do you estimate that the mental side of your game is when you compete? \u00a0\u00a0<\/i>Far too high.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n

At last: Do you have some good advice that you can give golfers? \u00a0\u00a0<\/i>Don\u2019t play Helgi Dan Steinsson<\/strong> for money, and always remember even when you shoot over 100, focus on the one.<\/p>\n
