{"id":42561,"date":"2012-07-31T07:30:35","date_gmt":"2012-07-31T07:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.golf1.is\/?p=42561"},"modified":"2012-07-31T16:24:35","modified_gmt":"2012-07-31T16:24:35","slug":"haraldur-franklin-magnus-and-valdis-thora-jonsdottir-icelandic-champions-in-stroke-play","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.golf1.is\/en\/haraldur-franklin-magnus-and-valdis-thora-jonsdottir-icelandic-champions-in-stroke-play\/","title":{"rendered":"Haraldur Frankl\u00edn Magn\u00fas and Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir Icelandic Champions in Stroke Play"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 4th tournament of the Eimskip series, The Icelandic Championship in Stroke Play, took place this past week, July 26th-29th 2012.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Icelandic Champions in Stroke Play are <strong>Haraldur Frankl\u00edn Magn\u00fas<\/strong>, from Golf Club Reykjav\u00edk (abbreviated GR) and <strong>Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, from Golf Club Leynir (abbreviated GL) in Akranes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Championship this year was exciting to say the least.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Women\u00b4s flight the final contestants were 3: Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra and <strong>Anna S\u00f3lveig Snorrad\u00f3ttir<\/strong> and<strong> Tinna J\u00f3hannsd\u00f3ttir,<\/strong> the two latter mentioned from Golf Club Keilir (abbreviated GK) in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur. \u00a0The results weren\u00b4t decided untill on the 18th hole. At tee off Anna S\u00f3lveig had a 1 stroke lead; she only had to make par to win the tournament or get bogey to force a playoff, provided the either one of the other two got birdie. \u00a0But she ended with a double bogey and Tinna J\u00f3hansd\u00f3ttir with a bogey so Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra who made par won the Championship.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was pretty much the same in the Men\u00b4s flight.<strong> R\u00fanar Arn\u00f3rsson<\/strong>\u00a0from GK had the lead, a 1 stroke one, on the 15th hole, but Haraldur Frankl\u00edn Magn\u00fas, GR, \u00a0made birdie on the 16th hole (only one of 2 in his round of 2 under par) whereas R\u00fanar got a bogey and then Haraldur Frankl\u00edn went into a 1 stroke lead which he maintained for the next two holes and won. By winning he became the first of his club GR to do so in 27 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Haraldur Franklin\u00b4s victory score was a 7 under par, 273 strokes (67 74 64 68) \u00a0score and Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra\u00b4s was a 13 over par, 293 strokes (71 75 72 75).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both will be studying and playing golf in the US next year, Haraldur Franklin as a freshman at Mississippi State ane Vald\u00eds \u00de\u00f3ra will continue at Texas State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 4th tournament of the Eimskip series, The Icelandic Championship in Stroke Play, took place this past week, July 26th-29th 2012.
