Last Sunday, May 6th 2012, Golf Club Hella at Rang\u00e1rvellir (GHR) in Iceland, held its 13th annual all women\u00b4s tournament sponsored by French Cosmetics Giant Lanc\u00f4me.\u00a0This tournament marks the beginning of the Golf Season for many Women Golfers here in Iceland.<\/p>\n

GHR will celebrate its 60th birthday on June 22nd 2012. \u00a0It is after the Golf Club\u00b4s in Reykjav\u00edk, Akureyri and Vestmannaeyjar, the oldest Golf Club in Iceland.<\/p>\n

There were 96 participants this time who competed as usual \u00a0in the Lanc\u00f4me tournament in 3 different handicap catigories: No. 1 those with handicap 0-14; no. 2 hcp. 14,1-25 and no. 3 hcp. 25.1-36. \u00a0The winners this year were\u00a0Bj\u00f6rg Traustad\u00f3ttir<\/strong> Club Champion at Golf Club \u00d3lafsfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur (from the North of Iceland) (hcp 0-14); \u00c1sd\u00eds Helgad\u00f3ttir<\/strong> from the Golf Club Setberg (GSE) (hcp. 14.1-25) and Valger\u00f0ur J\u00f3nsd\u00f3ttir<\/strong>, the Golf Club Oddur (GO) (hcp. 25.1-36).<\/p>\n

The golfcourse of GHR is called Strandarv\u00f6llur. When you come to Iceland you should absolutely make it a point to play golf on this gorgeous par-70, 18 hole golfcourse, which has world known volcano Hekla as a backdrop. \u00a0There is nowhere else in the world except in GHR where you can play golf close to Hekla.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
