Borgarnes is about an hours drive away from Reykjav\u00edk and is part of West Iceland. There are 1771 living in Borgarnes (according to the Statistics Buroe of Iceland last updated February 14th 2012).<\/p>\n<p>Golf Club Borgarness was founded in 1971. First it was a 9 hole golfcourse but in 2007 9 new holes were added a.o. the new 16th hole, which bears such strong resemblance to TPC Sawgrasses 17th.The designer of the 16th and the other 8 new holes is renowned Icelandic golfcourse architect, Hannes \u00deorsteinsson.<\/p>\n<p>The 16th is 69 meters from the red tee and 99 meters from the yellow tee.<\/p>\n<p>On July 26th last year, 2011, a young 12 yr. old boy, Stef\u00e1n Teitur \u00de\u00f3r\u00f0arson, from Akranes aced the 16th.
