C\u00e1diz Cup is a Golf Invite and the last one was held May 5th 2011 at Arcos Gardens in C\u00e1diz, Spain. Golfwriters and travel agents from all over Europe were invited. On behalf of Iceland the Icelandic travelagency World Tours (in Icelandic: Heimsfer\u00f0ir) and the golfwebsite Golf1.is were invited to participate.<\/p>\n

Golf 1 interviewed 7 of the participants in the C\u00e1diz Cup 2011. Five of those interviews have already aired here on Golf1, i.e. one with twice amateur champion Krisztina Batta from Hungary, the second with Mauricio Veloccia golf-pro from Italy and the third with Julien\u00a0Bacqu\u00e9s, \u00e1 Frenchman living in Austria, who works in the sales department of \u00a0TGR-Golfreisen in Vienna, Austria, i.e. a travelagency specializing in Golf Tours, the fourth with Sasha Zelenka, who a.o. has\u00a0published a comprehensive Golf guide on the abundance of beautiful golfcourses in Austria and fifth with Sergei Revinenko, golftravelagent in Moscow, Russia. Here comes the 6th interview:<\/p>\n

Where were you born:<\/em> In Munich, Germany, February 21st 1965.<\/p>\n

Where were you raised?<\/em>: In \u00a0Munich, Germany.<\/p>\n

What is your familystatus?<\/em>: \u00a0I am single and have no children.<\/p>\n

When did you start playing golf?:<\/em> \u00a0In 2007.<\/p>\n

Why did you start playing golf?<\/em>: Just out of interest. I used to play tennis, but wanted to try something else.<\/p>\n

Which one do you prefer parkland or links style courses?<\/em> Both.<\/p>\n

How many golfcourses are in Germany?<\/em> \u00a0I am not sure but I would guess they\u00b4re about the same as in France. Maybe 600-800. (Good guess Sasha! According to KPMG golfcourses in Germany 2011, are 708 – but Germany has more golfcourses than France, which has 578)<\/p>\n

What is your favorite golfcourse in Germany?<\/em> The course at Golf Club Schlo\u00df Maxlrein, it used to be a brewerie. It\u00b4s a golfcourse close to Chiemsee, in Bavaria<\/p>\n

What is the most special golfcourse you have played golf on and why?<\/em> I haven\u00b4t played that many in the 4 years since I started playing golf but I would say\u00a0Abama in Tenerife because of the scenery and view over the sea. It\u00b4s fun playing golf on an island.<\/p>\n

What is your lowest score and on what golfcourse did you achieve it?\u00a0<\/em> I don\u00b4t remember.<\/p>\n

Have you participated in any other sport?<\/em> Tennis.<\/p>\n

Maybe this is a steriotypical question, you being from Germany, but what is your favorite soccer team?<\/em> 1860 M\u00fcnchen.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite food, your favorite drink, your favorite music, your favorite movie and you favorite book?<\/em> \u00a0My favorite food is charcoaled grilled stuff<\/strong>; my favorite drink beer<\/strong> (almost an obligatory answer being from Germany!); favorite music is rock<\/strong>; my favorite movie is The Elephant Man <\/strong>and my favorite book is\u00a0Der Medicus<\/strong> by Noah Gordon.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite German golfer name one male and one female?<\/em> I\u00b4m closer to Angela Merkel than any golfer. (In other words Sasha has no favorite golfers, since he\u00b4s not in the same political party as Merkel).<\/p>\n

What is your favortie international golfer (any other than German ones): \u00a0<\/em>Never thought about it.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite club?<\/em>\u00a0 7-iron.<\/p>\n

Have you noticed an increase in interest in the sport of golf in Germany?<\/em> Maybe. Well, no not really \u00a0it\u00b4s considered to be elitarian – a rich peoples sport – but it\u00b4s slowly changing with golfers like Sandra Gal and Martin Kaymer.<\/p>\n

What do you like the best about golf? <\/em>The landscape – I like golfcourses – I wanna feel something good in my heart when I look at a beautiful landscape\u00a0 – I want to spend beautiful time in a beautiful landscape. I like people who teach well and know golf.<\/p>\n
