C\u00e1diz Cup is a Golf Invite and the last one was held May 5th 2011 at Arcos Gardens in C\u00e1diz, Spain. Golfwriters and travel agents from all over Europe were invited. On behalf of Iceland the Icelandic travelagency World Tours (in Icelandic: Heimsfer\u00f0ir) and the golfwebsite Golf1.is were invited to participate.<\/p>\n

Golf 1 interviewed 7 of the participants in the C\u00e1diz Cup 2011. Three of those interviews have already aired here on Golf1, i.e. one with twice amateur champion Krisztina Batta from Hungary, the second with Mauricio Veloccia golf-pro from Italy and the third with Julien\u00a0Bacqu\u00e9s, \u00e1 Frenchman living in Austria, who works in the sales department of \u00a0TGR-Golfreisen in Vienna, Austria, i.e. a travelagency specializing in Golf Tours.<\/p>\n

Among the 7 interviewed by Golf 1 was Austrian Sasha Zelenka, who was one of the winners at the\u00a0C\u00e1diz Cup 2011. The other 3 interviews will follow shortly here on Golf 1. Zelenka has a.o. published a comprehensive Golf guide on the abundance of beautiful golfcourses in Austria. Here goes the interview:<\/p>\n

Name:<\/em>\u00a0 Sasha Zelenka.<\/p>\n

Where were you born?<\/em>\u00a0 In Vienna, Austria, \u00a0October 25th 1971.<\/p>\n

Where did you grow up?<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0In Austria, but I lived a.o. in Greece 1991-1992, where I worked for a company that manufactured slotmachines.<\/p>\n

What is your family status?<\/em>\u00a0 I am living in a domestic partnership with my girlfriend and we have 3 children: 2, 9 and 13 years old.<\/p>\n

When did you start playing golf?<\/em>\u00a0 Somewhere around 1993-1994.<\/p>\n

Why did you start playing golf?\u00a0<\/em>My brother started playing golf – at first I didn\u00b4t think that was a sport for me, but then I went on a golfcourse in the Staates, where I was travelling at the time with friends on a slotmachineconvention and we just could not get off the course and kept playing. I remember my first par-3. My drive was within 1 meter from the flag, but then I needed 4 putts to sink it in the hole.<\/p>\n

Which one do you prefer parkland or link style golfcourses?<\/em>\u00a0 Links style courses because we don\u00b4t have any in Austria.<\/p>\n

What is your handicap?<\/em>\u00a018,4.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite golfcourse\/s in Austria?<\/em>\u00a0Sch\u00f6nborn<\/strong>\u00a0because of the atmosphere up in the Alps and…\u00a0Eichenheim<\/strong>, but that\u00b4s an extremely difficult course to play.<\/p>\n

What is\/are your favorite golfcourse\/s anywhere in the world apart from Austria?<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0Le Paradis \u00ed Mauritius.<\/p>\n

What is the most special golfcourse you have played on and why is it special?<\/em>\u00a0Montgomerie in Dubai \u2013 that\u00b4s a tricky course. I played it on the sunday before the Dubai Masters. The rough was tight and the greens difficult.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>There are plenty of sandtraps on the Montgomerie golfcourse in Dubai, which is the most special golfcourse Sasha Zelenka has played on!<\/div>\n

What is you lowest score in golf and on what golfcourse did you get it?<\/em>\u00a0+ 12 over par in \u00a0GC Altentann.<\/p>\n

Have you participated in any other types of sport?<\/em>\u00a0 Yes, soccer and motorcross.<\/p>\n

What is your favorite food, favorite drink, favorite music, favorite movie and favorite book? <\/em>My favorite food is the spaghetti<\/strong> of my wife; my favorite drink is rasberry juice with soda and lemon<\/strong>;\u00a0\u00a0my favorite music direction is soul<\/strong>;\u00a0my favorite movie is (just as Sasha said so sweetly in German :\u00a0\u201eDer Duft der Frauen\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0with Al Pacino \u00a0(i.e. Scent of a Woman starring a.o. Al Pacino) and my favorite book is \u201eLe Petit Prince\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0by \u00a0Antoine de Saint- Exup\u00e9ry.<\/p>\n

Who are your favorite golfers? Name 1 male and 1 female golfer:\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0Male: Tiger \u2013 because he has done so much for golf. \u00a0Female: Michelle Wie.<\/p>\n

Who in your opinion are the best male and female golfers in Austria?<\/em>\u00a0 Male.:\u00a0Markus Brier. \u00a0Female: Nicole Gergeli.<\/p>\n

What\u00b4s in the bag and what\u00b4s your favorite club?\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0In my bag is my Callaway driver FTTIQ, Mizuno irons, and TaylorMade woods and my putter.<\/p>\n

What do you like the most about golf?<\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0I get to know people very well.<\/p>\n

What is your greatest accomplishment in golf to this day?<\/em>\u00a0 I won the Austrian club championship in 2008.<\/p>\n
