The Invitational dates back to the year 2005, but this time it was being held on May 5th 2011 at the golfcourse of Arcos Gardens. Participants from Iceland this time were the travel agency Heimsferðir and this golfnews website: Golf1.is. This was a 3 day journey, where a.o. we were treated to a Flamenco show, whereas Flamenco is deeply rooted in the culture of Cádiz and in fact Andalucia as a whole. We were also invited to play some of Cádiz´s gorgeous golfcourses. The highlight of the trip was the Cádiz Cup Invitational on the beautiful Arcos Cardens golfcourse. From the golfcourse is one of the most astounding view over the one of the „white towns” in Southern-Spain, Arcos de la Frontiera (see pictures).

This was a most welcome chance to network with prominent golfwriters, who make a living writing about golf and have a broad knowledge of golfers and golf in general as well as owners and md´s of travel agencies from all over Europe, who offer golftrips to Cádiz as well as selected md´s of golfcourses in Cádiz who were invited aswell. Here on Golf1.is we will introduce the 21 main golfcourses and resorts in Cádiz on the Costa de la Luz in Spain these next days (golfcourses, which are very popular among Icelanders, who frequent them in particular when it gets colder here in Iceland in the autumn/fall and early in the spring at Eastertime, since Spain has a much milder climate then ours – and people here in Iceland are longing for Spain with her splendid green golfcourses and beautiful flowers). Aswell as introducing the 21 golfcourses we will publish 7 interviews with participants and winners of the Cádiz Cup this year. The first interview will be with Hungarian Krysztina Batta, md of Golf Travel, (an inbound and outbound travelagency), who has twice won the Amateur Championship in Hungary. She was a success at the Cádiz Cup 2011 since she won the tournament.
