{"id":113243,"date":"2015-05-06T19:30:44","date_gmt":"2015-05-06T19:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.golf1.is\/?p=113243"},"modified":"2015-05-07T11:52:57","modified_gmt":"2015-05-07T11:52:57","slug":"a-wonderful-way-to-promote-gardavoll-on-a-lorry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.golf1.is\/en\/a-wonderful-way-to-promote-gardavoll-on-a-lorry\/","title":{"rendered":"A wonderful way to promote Gar\u00f0av\u00f6ll &#8230; on a lorry!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Golf 1 became aware of a strange lorry which drove through Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.<\/p>\n<p>On one side of the vehicle there\u00a0was a huge and beautiful advertisement for Park course\u00a0(Icelandic: Gar\u00f0av\u00f6llur) in Akranes (in the western part of Iceland). \u00a0What a wonderful way to promote golf and the beautiful and good golf course Gar\u00f0av\u00f6llur is!<\/p>\n<p>Now there was this great chase around Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0; Golf 1 waiting for a chance to take a photo of the ad once the lorry with the beautiful Park course (Gar\u00f0av\u00f6llur) ad made a stop.<\/p>\n<p>At one point Golf 1 lost sight of the\u00a0vehicle and what was there to do? It could have made the exit to Keflav\u00edk airport; It could have turned to Hvaleyri golf course in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur or it could have been driven \u00a0to Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur harbor or in fact on serveral roads leading through residential areas.<\/p>\n<p>Golf 1 chose to drive half way to Keflav\u00edk International Airport; then to the Hvaleyri golf course and after not seeing the lorry there was little hope of finding it; it had simply vanished.<\/p>\n<p>Then, as the journalist of Golf 1 was driving down Hvaleyri hill; from where there is a great view over Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur harbor, there behind one of oil tanks she caught a glimpse of the lorry with the ad.<\/p>\n<p>Golf 1\u00b4s journalist drove straight down to the port, but was stopped by gatekeepers who fiercly denied letting anyone irrelevant into the harbor area and by no means anyone with such a vague explanation as wanting to take a photo of lorry with an ad for a golf course &#8211; \u00a0which the harbor gatekeepers thought was a poor excuse to\u00a0prying at the harbor of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur!<\/p>\n<p>But luckily a chipper Akranesian on another lorry had to go through the gate and he said that his colleague on the other lorry would go through shortly and he would let him\u00a0know that the journalist wanted to make a photo and \u00a0 \u00a0ask him to stop.<\/p>\n<p>And sure enough; the driver from the company \u00de\u00de\u00de, called Einar passed through the gate a little while later on the much desired and sought after lorry, with the Gar\u00f0av\u00f6llur ad and he granted Golf 1 the permit to make the accompanying photo of the lorry!<\/p>\n<p>Now, since the ad on the lorry has now reached Golf1\u00b4s English speaking readers; you should if you come to Iceland make it a point to play the beautiful Park course (Icelandic: Gar\u00f0av\u00f6llur), in the heart of Akranes, which is only an hours drive away from Reykjav\u00edk on the West Coast of Iceland!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Golf 1 became aware of a strange lorry which drove through Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur.
